Turkey

Ayşe Gülesim Ali Rustu Kaynak is a public Anatolian High School in an ancient area in Gümbet on the southern coast of Bodrum Peninsula. It was founded in 2009. It is a continually developing family with 571 students (14-18 year-old), 32 teachers and 6 of whom completed their master degrees. There are 17 classrooms having smart boards as a part of FATİH Project which has been enforced by the Ministry of Education to improve the teaching methods and develop the effectiveness of the learning methods at schools. A gym, a multipurpose hall or a lab aren’t available at school but the quality policy of our school is taking the needs of each learner into consideration, to enable them develop intellectually, emotionally, physically and socially as a confident individual embodying historical, national and international awareness by reinforcing their education with various sports, arts and social facilities.
Thanks to school clubs and courses organized by our teachers out-of-class hours at school, we try to satisfy the emotional and physical needs of our students. By dynamism of some of our teachers who started their occupation at our school and experienced of some who are close to get retired, the comfort of our pupils is trying to be improved. Our school is located in one of the touristic area of Bodrum and between small hotels and pubs or entertainment places. Therefore, our students have difficulties to focus on their lesson and they obtain bad habits such as smoking, alcohol or canting. This annoying situation effects their behaviors and success in a negative way. “Risk Questionnaire” which was applied by our counselor service among all of our students at school in the beginning of this term shows that 75% of our students are children of divorced parents and it can be observed that the divorced family children have lack of communication and confidence, can absenteeism frequently and prone to violence.
Also, %85 of our students have migration background and lower socioeconomic backgrounds. Economic aspects immigration makes both our parents and students’ lives hard. Instinctively these problems affect their educational, intellectual, sociable lives negatively. With the help of our Erasmus project the pupils can have a great numbers of opportunities to improve their lives During 2016-2018 Educational Years we tried to struggle with bullying and provide our students having difficulties in adapting school environment and being disposed to addiction bad habits such as alcohol, smoke, computer game to keep in school by activities of The Cycling Club thanks to ERASMUS+ Project (2016-1-TR01-KA219-034225_3).We have had a project team because of our previous project. Each of them attended TPMs and had a chance to observe different Educational Systems and experienced to carry on ERASMUS+ Project.
Our Strategic Plan has been renewed according to the 2023 Education Vision to turn our school into an enjoyable place for teachers and students by spending time together
